Selected work / Creative industries

A portfolio that gets out of the way.

The work was the argument. The site kept interrupting it with entry sequences, transitions and hover states that hid half the reel. We rebuilt the brand and the structure so the first thing anyone sees is the work.

Brand design, portfolio site

A production studio workspace with cameras and lighting

The brief

Creative production studio

A small production studio with a strong body of work and an identity assembled over years of client projects. Three logo variants in circulation, no type system, and a site built around a full-screen loop that took several seconds to reach anything clickable.

Their buyers are producers and brand teams who look at six studios in an afternoon. Load time and clarity are not aesthetics in that context. They are the pitch.

The challenge

Motion where structure should have been.

Every problem on the old site had been answered with an animation. A slow first load, an entry sequence in front of the reel, hover states that hid project titles, and a project page that made you scroll past three full-height images before you learned what the project was. The work was excellent. Very few people got far enough to see it.

Our approach

Structure first, then craft.

The same senior people ran every stage, so nothing was handed to a second team to interpret.
01

Brand

One mark, a typographic system with a clear hierarchy, and a restrained palette that lets the frames carry the colour instead of competing with it.

02

Structure

Reel first, project index second, everything else after. Each project opens with what it was, who it was for and what the studio did, above the images rather than below them.

03

Build

Framer, tuned for weight. Posters before video, lazy loading below the fold, and motion kept to what supports reading rather than what fills a gap.

04

Handover

A project template the studio fills in themselves, so new work goes up the week it clears rather than the month after.

What shipped

The detail that mattered.

  • One mark and one type system replacing three competing variants.
  • A reel that plays on the first screen, with no entry sequence in front of it.
  • Project pages that state scope and role above the imagery.
  • Media tuned for weight, so the index stays quick on a phone and on hotel wifi.
  • A template the studio uses to publish new work without us.

Where it landed

Proof, not promises.

The studio now sends one link instead of a link and an explanation, and new work goes up in an afternoon.

Named clients and the reel itself sit behind the studio's own permissions, so they are not published here. We can show you the finished site on a call.

More work

Other projects.

Client names stay off the site until they have cleared them. Scope, craft and approach are here in full.
