School website design built for enrolment, not just information.
A school website is built around the decisions prospective families actually make, not around your org chart. We are a custom studio, not a school website platform. As a Certified Framer studio we design and build bespoke sites for K-12 schools, private and independent schools, and universities.
If a template platform is the better fit for your budget, we will tell you that on the call.
Why school sites are different
Four audiences. One decision.
Navigation mirrors internal departments. Admissions, Bursary, Governance, Pastoral. That structure is honest about how the school runs. It is useless to a parent comparing three schools on a Sunday evening. The things that decide enrolment sit three clicks deep, split across PDFs, or buried behind a login built for people who already chose you.
Platform or bespoke
The honest comparison.
A platform gives you
Low cost and handled maintenance.
Low upfront cost, hosting and maintenance handled, accessibility baked in, parent apps and mass notifications included, and staff who can update pages without help.
- Your site looks like every other school on the same platform.
- Constrained to their content model.
- Your SEO ceiling is whatever their page structure allows.
- Your brand is, functionally, their design system.
A bespoke build gives you
Structure built around your admissions funnel.
Structure designed around your actual admissions funnel, a design nobody else has, no template ceiling on SEO or performance, and integrations built to your systems.
- More money upfront and a longer timeline.
- Someone on your side who owns the site after launch.
The honest test: if you could swap logos with the school down the road and both sites would still make sense, you did not need a custom build. If your positioning is genuinely specific, an international curriculum, a particular pedagogy, a bilingual community, a template will flatten it.
How we help schools
Four services, one team.
Website design and development
We design and build the site as a single track. As a Certified Framer studio, Framer is our default for school sites: it builds fast and a marketing officer can maintain it without a developer. We also build in Webflow and custom React and Next.js. School information system and admissions platform integrations are scoped in discovery, not discovered at build time.
Content writing and strategy
Most school sites have a content problem: too much of it, written by committee, aimed at nobody. We restructure around decisions, then write it. That includes content for multilingual sites and international families where English is the school's language but not the parents' first.
SEO and AEO
Schools compete on a small set of high-intent local and category searches, and increasingly on what AI assistants say when a parent asks for options. Our work covers both: technical foundations, page structure that answers questions directly, and schema machines can actually read.
Brand design
Where the identity is inconsistent across campuses, dated, or indistinguishable from every other school in the region, we do the brand design first. Rebranding after the site is built is the expensive order to do it in.
Who we work with
K-12 schools, private schools and universities.

K-12 and primary schools
Mostly a clarity and conversion problem. A small set of pages, one main decision, a parent audience, and usually a very small team maintaining the site afterwards. Primary school website design lives or dies on whether a parent can get from the homepage to booking a visit without guessing.
Private and independent schools
Private school website design carries a second problem: the site has to signal fee-level quality without becoming a brochure. Parents paying tuition read tone as evidence. A site that looks generic reads as a school that is generic. That is unfair and it is also how it works.
Universities
The opposite problem: scale. Hundreds of programme pages, a dozen faculties with their own opinions, and a governance process that makes any single change slow. The design problem there is systems, not pages. We spend more time on content models, templates and design systems that let faculties publish consistently.
Why Urest
Facts we can stand behind.
- Five senior people, no juniors, no handoffs. Design, development and growth are the same team.
- Structure built around admissions. Enquiry and visit paths designed as a funnel, with operational content kept out of its way.
- A site your team can run. Editable by the people who actually update it, usually a marketing officer with other jobs.
- Integrations scoped up front. School information systems, admissions platforms and event booking confirmed during discovery.
- Certified Framer studio. 7+ years, clients in 17+ countries, a team of five based in Poland working across Europe and the US.
We also work with real estate and built environment and creative industries. Three industries, chosen because we know them.
Common questions
Answers, up front.
Yes, both, and they are different jobs. K-12 and primary school website design is mostly a clarity and conversion problem: a small set of pages, one main decision, a parent audience, and usually a very small team maintaining it afterwards. University work is a systems problem: hundreds of programme pages, multiple faculties with competing requirements, and a governance process that makes ad-hoc changes impossible. For universities we spend more time on content models, templates and design systems so that faculties can publish consistently without design review on every page.
Yes, and it is a regular part of our education work. International schools usually teach in English while their parent community reads in several other languages, so decision-making content: fees, admissions requirements, curriculum, visa guidance, needs to exist properly in those languages. We handle the content structure, translated copy, and the technical setup, hreflang, language routing, correct indexing, so each language version can rank in its own right.
A custom school website is a scoped project, and a number without scope is meaningless. The variables are: how many pages and templates, whether content is rewritten or migrated, how many languages, how many system integrations, and whether brand work is included. Platforms are far cheaper upfront, and for many schools that is the correct choice. We give a fixed scope and price after a discovery call, and if what you need is a platform rather than a studio, we will say so.
Fix it if the structure is sound and the problems are cosmetic or technical: slow pages, poor mobile behaviour, a dated look. Rebuild it if the problem is structural: content organised by department rather than by audience, admissions information scattered in PDFs, a CMS your staff avoid using, or a template ceiling you keep hitting. The test: can a parent who has never heard of your school get from the homepage to booking a visit without guessing? If they cannot, patching the surface will not fix it.

A short call, no pitch deck. You describe the school, the audience and what is not working. We tell you what we would do, roughly what it costs, and whether you need a school website design agency at all or a platform would serve you better.
