Industries / Creative Industries

Website design for creative studios that presents the work without slowing it down.

We design and build websites for creative studios, brands and solo creatives: sites that carry heavy imagery, video and motion without losing load speed or search visibility.

Certified Framer studio. 7+ years. One senior team of five. Clients in 17+ countries.

Why creative sites are different

The website is the portfolio, not a description of it.

For most businesses a site describes the work. For a creative studio it has to be the work, and that means carrying assets other industries never ship: 4K video, uncompressed stills, custom cursors, scroll-linked motion, type that has to render exactly right. Every one of those has a weight, and weight is where creative sites fail.

The pattern is consistent: design approved on a designer's machine, assets go in, site ships, then it is slow. That is not a performance problem. It is a sequencing problem. Performance got treated as a cleanup task at the end instead of a constraint at the start. The second cost is easier to miss: image-first, text-poor sites leave search engines and AI answer engines with almost nothing to read. Beautiful work, invisible page.

How we help

The full build. One team, no handoffs.

For creative clients the mix leans harder into visual craft than our other industries, because that is what the work demands. Design, motion, development, brand and content, handled by one senior team.

Who we work with

Built for creative studios, brands and solo creatives.

We work with independent photographers, directors, designers and illustrators as well as multi-person studios, brands and creative agencies. The scope differs, but the approach does not: same senior team, same performance budget set up front, same CMS-driven portfolio you can update yourself.

What you get

  • A fast site that presents the work properly and that search engines and AI tools can actually read.
  • A performance budget agreed before anyone opens a design file.
  • A portfolio you can update without a developer: new project, new case study, reordered work, done in minutes.
  • Motion with a reason to exist.
  • One senior team of five, start to finish, with 7+ years in growth marketing and web design.

Creative is one of three industries we know deeply. We also work with real estate and the built environment and education. Three industries, chosen because we know them, not because we will take anything.

Common questions

Answers, up front.

By deciding what the site is allowed to weigh before we design it, not after. We set a performance budget at the start of every project, so every image, video and animation is measured against a known limit while the design is still being made. In practice that means the right compression and format choices for each asset, video that loads only when it is needed, and motion evaluated on what it costs as well as what it adds. The result is a site that presents heavy creative work without the six-second load that usually comes with it.

Yes. We build portfolio structures on a CMS, so adding a project, writing a case study, reordering the work or removing a client is something you do yourself in a few minutes. No developer, no support ticket, no waiting on an agency's availability. This matters more for creative clients than for anyone else, because the portfolio changes constantly and a site you cannot update quietly stops representing you.

For most creative studios, Framer, and it is what we recommend by default. It handles motion and interaction natively, builds quickly, and is straightforward to maintain without a developer. Webflow is a better fit for sites with heavier structured content or specific ecommerce needs. Custom React or Next.js makes sense when there is genuine application logic, complex integrations, or scale that a visual builder cannot support. Most creative sites do not need custom code, and paying for it usually buys complexity rather than capability.

No, and that is not what a performance budget does. The rule is that every animation earns its place, or it does not ship, which removes the decorative movement, not the deliberate kind. A site with three considered transitions reads as more crafted than one with twenty competing effects, and it is faster. What makes a creative site memorable is the quality of the work and the confidence of the layout, not the number of things moving at once.
